Demo: Signalis
I'm not sure why I slept so long on the Signalis demo. I think my inner hype train got to a point where I feared that I can only be disappointed - but how wrong I was. The demo clearly showed everything and more I had expected. Just take a look at this gorgeous gif below.
Signalis aims to be a spiritual successor to the horror games of the golden ps1-era, namely Silent Hill or Resident Evil. The gameplay is therfor rather slow and the horror is refreshingly jumpscare-free; the whole tension is build up through music, a very interesting story and beautiful pixel-art. It took me about 40mins to finish this demo and it was a blast. If I had not already wishlisted it by now, I might hit the button a million times again.
You have to overcome some puzzles, which are either logical or the good old inspect this, combine that - I felt warped back into 1999. Signalis is getting published by Humble Games and is developed by only two people. If you like what you see, head over to steam and download that demo.
